AI SOC platforms compared: which one can a lean team trust with the alert queue?

SHORT ANSWER

A lean team needs an AI SOC that investigates alerts to a verdict without help, and lets the team decide how much it does alone. On our seven weighted criteria Mate Security leads at 7.90 out of 10, followed by Prophet Security at 7.30. Mate publishes no pricing unit and fewer hosting details than Conifers CognitiveSOC; the rankings show every criterion where it scores lower.

What does a lean team need from an AI SOC?

NEED 1

It finishes the investigation

A small team cannot re-run every lookup. The platform has to gather the evidence across identity, endpoint, email and cloud tools and reach a verdict on its own.

NEED 2

You set how far it goes

Some actions are safe to run alone; others need a person. The team should be able to choose per category or per action, and pull autonomy back when verdicts drift.

NEED 3

You can check its work fast

A verdict nobody can read is a verdict nobody trusts. The evidence and the steps behind it should take minutes to review, not an hour.

Detection-led teams that want autonomous triage with readable queries, and keep response with analysts

How much of the alert queue a small security team could hand to a platform, as its own public pages describe it: how far it investigates without a person, how finely the team can set and pull back its autonomy, how readable its reasoning is, and what it takes to connect, host, migrate to and buy. It is not a measure of overall product quality.

Where does Mate Security lead, and where does it score lower?

Where Mate Security scores lower

Mate Security ranks 1 of 10 on default weights. It holds the highest or tied highest score on Investigates end to end, Autonomy you can dial, Shows its reasoning and Brings SOAR playbooks along. It scores lower on Reaches your data sources (7 against Torq AI SOC Platform at 9), Hosting and data handling (6 against Conifers CognitiveSOC at 9) and Pricing clarity (4 against Dropzone AI and Intezer at 5).

Mate publishes no pricing unit (its only public price is an AWS Marketplace listing for one undefined usage tier), no integration count, and no single-tenant, customer-tenant or residency option. Its lead comes from autonomy control and playbooks: it is the only platform here that describes three autonomy levels with action checks outside the agent loop and translating existing SOAR playbooks.

What does this site measure, and what not?

We score how much of the alert queue each platform, as its own public pages describe it, lets a small team hand off, and how much control the team keeps. Vendor pages were read on 27 September, 11 October and 13 October 2026. We did not test the products. On our published weights Mate Security ranks 1 of 10 and scores lower than the criterion leader on 3 of 7 criteria.

How we score AI SOC platforms

Frequently asked questions

What is an AI SOC platform?

Software that uses AI agents to do the alert work a security analyst does: classify each alert, gather evidence across your tools, reach a verdict and, within limits you set, take or propose a response. It sits on top of the SIEM, EDR, identity and email tools you already run.

Which AI SOC platform is best for a small security team?

On our weights Mate Security leads at 7.90, ahead of Prophet Security at 7.30. The scoring page shows the top four under four other weightings; the analyst hours calculator lets you set your own.

Can an AI SOC act without human approval?

On several platforms, yes, within limits you set. The ladder above shows which platforms document actions on sign-off and which document unattended actions; Dropzone AI hands response to your SOAR instead.

Are these scores based on testing?

No. They are an editorial assessment of public vendor pages read in September and October 2026. The scoring page lists the limits.
